When I took my pre-engagement pictures, I liked how they came out but I didn’t like how I looked. I no longer felt comfortable in my own body and that’s what really hit me the most. I did not want to look like that on my wedding day at all. And actually one of my friends on Facebook shared her challenge [FitCampLA Whittier Challenge — FitCampLA Norwalk Challenge] and shared her results of the 16 pounds she lost and that really opened my eyes.
So I started to investigate and I asked her A lot of questions about it and I ended up at orientation. Meeting the coaches, meeting all the new faces and even the people that were in the challenge before, it made me feel like they all started somewhere [FitCampLA Whittier Challenge — FitCampLA Norwalk Challenge] and have elevated little by little and I felt like I could do the same thing. I’ve lost 33 pounds already. I just wish I could’ve started sooner, that’s all I could say… I wish I could’ve started sooner, it’s been the best thing I’ve done!
My dress fittings, I almost cried! Because, you know, I didn’t think I was going to enjoy my dress fitting experience… I was really emotional because I saw how far I’ve come and I didn’t think I was going to get to where I’m at right now. I didn’t think I was going to be doing ropes, I didn’t think I was gonna be doing burpees, I didn’t think I was going to be doing what everybody else does… Squatting with the bar on my shoulders with 45 pounds on it. And Coach Val is constantly challenging you but she knows what kind of challenge to give you, she’s not going to give you something that you can’t handle and all the coaches are there to help you out.
That’s, I think, the best part about this place — The fact that you don’t just have people saying, “Ok here do this” and that’s it — The coaches at FitCampLA stay with you and make sure that you can do it yourself. If you’re watching this and you feel like, “Well I don’t know maybe I should start Monday” or “I know I need to make a change but I don’t know…” … honestly, it’s all about taking that leap of faith and just doing it because if you keep saying, “Well maybe, well maybe” or “what if?,” you’re not going to do it.
